Overview
The intent of this project was to undertake the adaptive re-use of void space between an existing PX (Post Exchange) and a small deli/sub shop, creating a new and updated space for U.S. Army troops, training at Fort A. P. Hill, to relax over coffee-based drinks and upgraded fare. Utilizing the Java Cafe branding, exclusive to the U.S. Army, AAR gutted the existing void space, creating the Java Cafe from scratch. This project included modifications and upgrades to the existing building's infrastructure, including new plumbing, electrical, and insulation throughout, in addition to updated finishes. This project earned an award from the Post Command and was particularly rewarding, given the nature of its use in supporting our Nation's warfighters. The project was completed on schedule and on budget, in a highly sensitive/secure environment, with all spaces in continual operation.
