Overview
The focus of this project was the interior and exterior restoration of the historic elevators in both the James Madison Memorial Building (JMMB) and the Thomas Jefferson Memorial Building (TJMB) for the Library of Congress and the Architect of the Capitol. AAR completed this work as a critical subcontractor for HITT Contracting, Inc., as part of a team utilized to completely overhaul all elevator systems and functions. While the surfaces within the JMMB were of a more standard stainless and bronze, the ornate interior and exterior surfaces of the TJMB presented our crews with a unique opportunity to shine. This project was completed on schedule and on budget and was submitted for a Craftsmanship Award through the Architect of the Captiol for exceptional workmanship. The space was occupied at all times and open to the public.
